Tested 2/10/23. Runs Good. However, using the equipment that I have, this locomotive seemed to blown the horn excessively (almost all the time it is running. See the video.) I spoke to American Models about this and they feel that my tracks are dirty. Beyond that, they couldn’t offer any additional suggestions as to why the locomotive appears to constantly blow the horn. Please note that I was using a Lionel Transformer.
Paperwork received from the consignor’s daughter indicates this locomotive was originally ordered and paid for on 12/30/1995 for $377. However, it was not received by the consignor until after 10/27/1997. This information is not being sold with the unit. On 2/10/23, I cleaned and wiped down the loco and removed some lint. I re-glued the right-hand lantern on the front which had already been re-glued before based on the over-gluing residue that was and still is present on the locomotive. (You may not be able to see the residue in the photos. From a distance it is not that noticeable. I also believed I cleaned as much of it off as I could. There might be more on the left-hand side of the front part of the engine than there is on the right front side. )
