This is a very nice Flat car with real wood platform on the frame. It would be great to hold a special load of your choosing. Add this great model to your collection today. Is supposed to come with Stakes. Some are present but I don’t think all of them are. These are to be cut in half when used. (The stakes look like flat toothpicks to me. So, I do not know if these are the original stakes or substitutes.)

Notes from NASG: The 46-foot flat cars manufactured by American Models were claimed to be based on the 1930 USRA 46′ cars. However, author Jeff English reports in the April 1999 issue of the NASG’s Dispatch that those prototype cars were actually only 42 feet long. Upon further research, he found that the American Models cars are actually based on the Chicago & North Western design, which, in the real world, was based on the USRA design, but stretched to 46 feet. Those cars were produced starting in 1927. Jeff did a thorough product review in his article.
