Since this hopper car was received from a consignor and originally listed for sale in “needs repair” condition, I have repaired it by ordering replacement sideframe springs and installing them on the truck that was missing them. Now, this car is in very good condition. Although I ordered the springs directly from the manufacturer American Models after giving them the model number of the item, the springs received are black while the ones previously installed on the car are silver and, in my opinion, the new springs are a little stiffer than the original ones. I tested the car after installing the new springs and it rolls well by itself and the stiffness of the springs do not appear to negatively affect the car. I made no attempt to connect this car to other trains. The car has been restored to Like New operations. The Box is missing its original Styrofoam carton and has a small tear on the front of the box. I have also inserted some replacement foam to hold the car in securely in place inside the box.
