This is an S scale 35′ S-Helper Service model introduced in 1994. It is SHS’ replica of a 1953 New York Central (NYC) Pullman-Standard-2 (PS-2), 2-bay Covered Hopper #573251. The prototype could hold 2003 Cubic Ft of materials. This model is in very good condition.
Notes copied from NASG.org: According to Don Thompson, the PS-2 two-bay covered hoppers were based on the Southern Pacific drawings of the 1957 cars ordered from Pullman Standard (drawings supplied by the late Lee Johnson). This was the first project S-Helper Service did without the collaboration with American Models (per December 1995 NASG Dispatch notice by Ron Bashista). Has very nice factory applied details on top, bottom and ends, plus 4 New mLFW (metal Low Flange Wheels) and 2 New Truck Bolster Spacers in the carton. Brush cleaned and removed lint from wheels on 2/13/2023. Might have some smoke oil residue in some places.
