Description

N scale Life-Like 7792 Southern SD7 Diesel Engine Locomotive #207 CoG (Central of Georgia).

This EXCELLENT, Great running, N scale, DC locomotive has 12-Wheel Power pickup, 8-Wheel Drive, a fantastic black Tuxedo paint scheme with white sash, gold pinstripe, and crisp gold lettering.   The locomotive has good weight to it, front and rear lights, medium flange blackened brass wheels, sprung, swiveling, Rapido couplers, and lots of great details.  The shell has molded grab iron, lifting hooks, 2 finely crafted horns, sturdy handrails, windows with clear (plastic) glass, white reflective lines on the stairs.  The 3-axle trucks are very detailed.  The road number is 207 and the initials “C.o.G.” appear underneath the road number on both sides of the cab, which I believe stands for “Central of Georgia.”  If all you do is LOOK at this locomotive or put it in a display case, it is a real piece of art.  Life-Like did a wonderful job on this Southern SD7 Diesel locomotive.  It would make a great addition to a Southern model railroad exhibit, layout, or empire.

This diesel engine runs very well.  I may be the only person who has run this item.  The Consignor mentioned that he did not operate it.  I tested it to be certain that it works.  It has been run for less than 10 minutes by me.  The video shows you just how well this locomotive operates.  It does have a high-speed that appears to be much faster than the capabilities of its real prototype.  The locomotive comes in its original clear plastic jewel case with all original paperwork inside underneath the plastic carton that the locomotive sleeps in.

General Electric’s Electro-Motive Division built the prototype locomotives between May 1951 and November 1953.  The SD stands for Special Duty.  The first ones built had an EMD 567B 16-cylinder engine producing 1500 horsepower for its 6 traction motors.  188 units were sold to US railroads.  Central of Georgia only had 1 of these according to Wikipedia and its road number was 201.  My guess is if that is true, Southern Railway must have renumbered this locomotive when they absorbed Central of Georgia railroad.

This item is offered individually in this listing and in a combination listing with another Southern locomotive and freight car.  Get it before it’s gone.
