The Elgin, Joliet and Eastern Railway (reporting mark EJE) was a Class I railroad, operating between Waukegan, Illinois and Gary, Indiana.
This is one of the easiest model railroad train car kits to put together. You can assemble your very own 40′ open-top quad hopper car using one of these Athearn Blue Box kits. It comes with everything you need to build a handsome HO scale model railroad car except for the glue. This kit includes a fully molded black shell with good white lettering. The roadname is Elgin, Joliet & Eastern (EJ&E or EJE). The hopper car has a simulated steel shell. Please look at the pictures carefully to see all the items included inside the box to make this kit. It is believed that the small envelope contains wheels, trucks, screws, coupler box covers, Bachmann E-Z mate knuckle couplers, and brake wheel. The resulting car will have frame-mounted couplers. It is new. It has been opened, examined and pictured. It will be a fun and easy model to build and add to your model train collection. No painting is required, but you may wish to weather it to your liking.
